I want to be a fireman with BIG nipples...

Lily (who is will be 3 in a few weeks) was in my room while I was getting dressed one morning a few days ago. She wanted to know why my nipples were bigger than hers...she was worried she had boy nipples and wanted them to be bigger. She was very concerned but I tried to assure her that when she grew up her nipples would grow up too....fast forward to today, we're driving to the post office to pick up a package and a fire truck passes us...while we're at the post office, the woman behind the counter asks Lily what she wants to be when she grows up (she was wearing a plastic crown from her dress up set...I'm sure the woman was thinking she was going to say princess or something equally cute and girly) to which she responds "A fireman with BIG nipples" ...Of course the woman looked at me like I had 8 heads, and sort of nodded at Lily. Ahh...perhaps its time for me to find a new post office to drop packages off at. LOL

I am a blog slacker...

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Okay, I am always on the run somewhere now, working full time is fully time consuming, its seems like I never have time to do anything besides work and errands and the house work has definitely suffered as a result. I've read this poem before but I came across it again today...it made me stop re-organizing the bookshelf in my room to come chill on the couch with a napping snuggly Sofie on my lap and a cuddly Lily to my side...They get big sooo fast.

Even Homer wears his baby...

Steve and I were veggin' out in front of the t.v. the other night watching The Simpsons and Steve spotted this. He was so excited about it, he actually backed the DVR up so I could take a picture. Steve is in Phoenix, AZ right now on a business trip so it's just me and the girls this week. Lily has been a broken record of "Where's daddy?" all night. She thought he was hiding upstairs at one point and screamed "Daaaadeeee" up the stairwell for about 10 minutes before I could convince her he wasn't up there. Ugh...I feel how Homer looks in the picture...I just have to make it to Sunday...

Hi, my name is Becca and I'm a wrap addict

The first step to solving the problem is admitting you have one, right? lol (and yes, I do realize I have been a slacker when it comes to updating this blog lately). Okay, so in the time since I last posted I have owned and then sold many many wraps. Steve (hubby) thinks I'm completely crazy but has attempted to look the other way, or maybe I just think he's looking the other way and its really Bioshock I have to thank? (seriously though, I am not rich by any means, all the wraps I have except for maybe 1, were purchased with money made on ebay by selling things I had laying in my basement). I decided to compile a list of all the wraps that have been through my hands, what I have now and what is on its way to my doorstep...

These lovelies have lived here...
Vicky Storchenwiege sz 4.1
Lille Hoppediz Long
Ozean Nino Didymos sz 7
Blue and White Indio Didymos sz 4
Amethyst Indio w/ Linen Didymos sz 7
Earthy Rainbow Girasol sz 4.6
Silver Waves Didymos sz 5
Silk Nino Didymos sz 4
Babyhawk Reversible Mei Tai
Bellalina Bambina Mei Tei

These are the ones that have survived and still live here...
Vicky Storchenwiege sz 4.1
Lille Hoppediz Long (currently residing with the lovely miss Zoe)
Ozean Nino Didymos sz 7
Blue and White Indio Didymos sz 4
Babyhawk Reversible Mei Tai
Bellalina Bambina Mei Tei

and these are the ones that are on their way here...
Joringel Didymos sz 6
Silk Indio sz 6
Lime Waves sz 6
Earthy Rainbow Girasol shortie (~2.4m)
Earthy Rainbow Girasol ring sling (I had my ER wrap cut into 2, 1/2 is becoming a lovely ring sling and 1/2 will either get sold, get used as a lovely short rainbow wrap or become another lovely ringsling for a dear friend who has an exceptionally cute newborn and once complimented earthy rainbow ;)
Silk Nino Didymos sz 4 dyed sky blue (natural cream silk is just asking to be stained with one baby bodily fluid or another)

I will add photos of all the wraps when the revolving door stops spinning. Now thats its all typed out I think I may appear crazier than intended...especially because all of these have been in and out in the past 3-4 months!...but I swear there is a purpose to all this testing and if you ever need any babywearing wrap advice, well, then you know who to ask. :0)

My wrap stash...

Oh, I got all of my lovelys together and took a pictures. In the pile from top to bottom is Lille Hoppediz 4.6, Vicky Storchenwiege 4.1, Earthy Rainbow Girasol 4.6 and Amethyst Linen LE Indio Didymos 5.2. The Amethyst indio is my newest edition and it seems so special. The weave is so thin and delicate looking and its much softer than the other wraps to begin with because of the linen content. I adore it but I'm almost afraid to use it (and please excuse the messy hair/exhausted mama look in the first picture..I am tiiiiiired). On a slightly amusing note, with politics aside (although I like Hillary :0) there is a woman wearing her baby in a wrap in this Hillary ad. :0) If you like the wrap its a Gypsy Mama Baby Bali Stretch Cybele.

Stretch marks and more...

I (sadly) don't adore my body by any means but it has been through a lot and tells its own story. I wouldn't trade my girls for anything and if a few stretch marks and scars are the price I had to pay to get them here they are more than worth it. I stumbled across this website while I was pregnant with Lily and just recently found it again, I think it means more to me now...if nothing else it makes me feel like I'm not alone. The tatoos of motherhood are definitely worth it...you don't have to take my word for it.

Baby...the newest rock star accessory

So it seems that not too many dads have found the wrappin' love...well let me just say that I have the best multitasking hubby in the world. Nothing like a little loud video game playing to rock a baby to sleep. (he's playing Rock Band btw) and then of course Lily wanted in on the action. She was much more interested in watching the video game than sleeping though. :0)

These marvelous photos also debut my newest wrap...the lovely Vicky Storchenwiege 4.1....She's (Steve says he's going to take them away until I realize they're not people lol) definitely the most supportive of my bunch, and if your keeping track my support scale goes Earthy Rainbow Girasol, Lille Hoppediz, Vicky Storchenwiege. Vicky is definitely not the cushiest gal though, in fact she's kind of stiff and canvassy but with a little breaking in I'm sure all will be well.

Merry New Year!

I can't believe its 2008! I know everyone says that but to emphasize...I cannot BELIEVE it is 2008. So much has happened in the past few years, degrees, a house, marriage, children, jobs...the sheer number of life changing events is just amazing. It is so good to be home from our trip to Florida but two weeks with family has really made me and Steve realize how great it is to be near family, especially now that we have kids. While we both like Baltimore there really isn't anything that is gluing us to the area anymore now that I have finished school here. The want for family nearby mixed with the fact that we could afford to live in a much nicer home in a safer neighborhood has really lit a fire under this girl’s ass! (Plus it’s just heartbreaking to hear Lily asking where her cousin, "Steppy" went). I am usually terrible with resolutions but this one I am determined to keep, especially because it is a family resolution and not just mine. I really need to clear out the clutter in the house; we own so many things that go unused that could be loved by other families. What purpose do they serve living in our basement (or under the couch, or on the floor of Lily's room, or shoved in our only closet, or in the hallway upstairs...)? The general goal of all the downsizing being to make moving easier, which we have also sworn to do by this time 2010. We were in Florida for New Years, so I made this resolution before walking back into my house yesterday and fully realizing what an amazing undertaking getting my pack rat house in order is going to be but I am up to the challenge!
